The Happy Home is a safe home for at-risk children.

Simply stated, the Happy Home exists to help at-risk children in Suva, Fiji reach their full potential.  We do this in a few different ways. You’ll find the best 88 fortunes online here, you have time to get it!

Most of the time, we work hard to keep the children in their homes by empowering the parents to take better care of their kids.  For some families, this means hiring the parents to do gardening, small construction jobs, or house cleaning.  Others will be sponsored to take classes or provided with materials to start their own business. Children of these families and others often come to the Happy Home to stay for weekend visits  This gives them a chance to shower, eat healthy meals, enjoy the on-site pool, and build relationships with staff and volunteers.  Additionally, children will stay for longer periods of time should home become too unstable for the children’s safety and well-being.

In some cases, we work with the parents and determine it is best for the child to leave their home to reach their full potential.  In these situations, the child moves into the Happy Home and we provide for their care and upbringing, while still maintaining familial ties.

One of these children is Sujit Kumar, whose story inspired the home.  Sujit spent the first 8 years of his life living in a chicken coop.  Preferring to perch and roost than sit or lay down, he spent the next 22 years living in an old-folks home, until he was discovered by Elizabeth Clayton and the Happy Home was created for his care and re-socialization.
